Tips on Being the Perfect Plus One
May 29, 2019Tips on Being the Perfect Plus One
Weddings are chock full of dos and don’ts, but as a plus one, you’ll find that you have even more rules to follow. Being a plus one at a wedding can be daunting, especially when you don’t know anybody other than your date. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be! Consider this your cheat sheet with tips on being the perfect plus one. If you’re attending a beach wedding in Destin, then this guide will come in handy for you (and even your date!). Follow our four simple rules to be the perfect plus one at any wedding!
- If you are asked to be someone’s plus one, be sure to RSVP early. Usually, there isn’t a lot of leeway between the invitation arriving and when to RSVP, so if you’re asked, you’ll want to let them know right away. Quickly letting the couple know if you and your date are attending minimizes any additional stress as well as costs.
- If a dress code is specified on the invitation, follow it! If there isn’t a dress code listed, be sure you understand the venue and the rules of the season. Long sleeves won’t be appropriate for an outdoor beach wedding in Destin, but a shorter hemline may also not appropriate for an indoor ceremony. It’s also a good idea to coordinate an ensemble with your date so you will both be on the same page.
- Helping your date chip in on the gift as a plus one is a good rule of thumb. You don’t necessarily have to bring your own gift, but nevertheless, it’s considered a gracious gesture to help your date go in on a gift.
- Leave a good impression! This is important in all circumstances, but especially so if you don’t know anyone else there. Have fun, but don’t do anything you would regret later on! Remember, not all that happens at weddings stays at the wedding.
