Your Summer Wedding Menu is Here
May 22, 2019Inspiration For Your Summer Wedding Menu
Summer may not be officially here yet, but it sure does feel like it outside! If you’re hosting a summer outdoor wedding in Destin, you’re likely working to curate a menu that will help your guests keep cool. This isn’t the season to serve warm menu items (save those for a fall wedding!), but instead help everyone beat the heat. In addition, there are so many delicious options in-season to take advantage of! Read on below for some of our favorite ideas for your summer wedding menu – you may even find some inspiration!
- Make your signature drink seasonally appropriate – something fruity, light, and most important, cool! Mojitos with fresh fruit, a cucumber-lime-gin concoction, mint julep, and light sangria are just a few options to choose from when searching for a summer cocktail. Have beer and wine on hand as well, but giveÂ
your guests something else to sip on in the meantime!
- If you’re opting for a traditional sit-down meal indoors, skip soup as a starter and go for a bright salad instead. Adding fresh strawberries and blueberries on a bed of arugula will be a welcome reprieve from the heat. Also, chilled oysters make for a great hors d’oeuvres your guests will happily enjoy! Check out our wedding caterers in Destin for freshly prepared Gulf Coast favorites.
- We mentioned in-season produce earlier, and summertime has an abundance of delicious fruits and vegetables for you to incorporate into your summer wedding menu. Traditional fruits like apples, bananas, and watermelon are of course in season, but this is the perfect chance to try something new like nectarines, plums, and figs. For vegetables, branch out and add eggplant, fennel, and radicchio.
- When it comes to dessert, a wedding cake is the clear traditional route. However, if you want to opt for the non-traditional (but still delicious!) route, we don’t know a single guest who would say no to an ice cream bar at a wedding. You can also serve a variety of other cool pastries including lemon and blueberry bars, ice pops, and more.
