Your Guide to Bridal Shower Etiquette
October 3, 2018Your Guide to Bridal Shower Etiquette
It’s no secret that bridal showers are one of our favorite events! This is a fun opportunity to bond with the bride’s nearest and dearest friends and family members before her wedding. From fun games to tasty treats and everything in between, it can be a lot to digest if you’ve never hosted or attended a bridal shower before! Read on for our need-to-know bridal shower etiquette that’ll have you covered time and time again.
- When Is It? These days, it’s fairly common for brides to have more than one bridal shower. One may be thrown by family, while another is typically hosted by the maid of honor. Hosts should consult each other to avoid list duplication, although bridesmaids are usually invited to both parties. Showers could be held anywhere from two months to two weeks before the wedding, so be sure to block out your calendars accordingly! The hostess should send out invites a month to six weeks in advance, so you’ll have plenty of time to plan!
- Where Is It? Anywhere! A more casual bridal shower can be held at the host’s home, while a more extravagant bridal shower can be held at a restaurant or a different venue. - What Traditions Are There? While some wedding traditions fall by the wayside – black attire at weddings, we’re looking at you – there are a few making a big comeback! The groom showing up with flowers before his fiancée opens her gits is one of our favorites, as it gives guests who haven’t met him yet a chance to get acquainted. Another one we love involves making a bouquet out of shower gift ribbons for the rehearsal dinner. And of course, there’s the time-honored “something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new” tradition we can’t get enough of!
