What to Wear: Groom Edition ~ Men’s Wedding Attire
When it comes to men’s wedding attire, there’s little we love more than a well-dressed¬†groom.¬†Who said only brides could be fashion-forward? This day and age, there is no “one tux fits all” rule. Men have freedom past the traditional black suit/black tie option for their wedding. How about a sharp maroon blazer for a fall wedding, or¬†bright cobalt blue for those summer nuptials? If you’re planning an upcoming wedding, follow our tips for men’s wedding attire for a look that’ll leave everyone dazzled.
We love a springtime wedding – it’s neck and neck with fall for the most popular¬†wedding¬†season. Depending on where you get married (beachfront wedding, anyone?), it can be pretty warm around spring. Ditch the typical black wool suit in favor of cotton sateen – the fabric is lighter and you’ll be much more comfortable! Feeling bold? Opt for suiting in light shades, like a powder blue, blush pink, or a standard light gray. If the weather is unseasonably warm, ditch the jacket and stick with a vest, boutonniere, and crisp black tie (pictured: right).
Like spring weddings, summer weddings are warm and you may find yourself¬†uncomfortable in a standard black suit. Chambray and striped seersucker are great choices for summer weddings. For the groom who’s not afraid to stand out, coordinate floral print ties or bowties with your groomsmen. Or, when it’s exceptionally hot outside, take a page out of LeBron James’ book – the basketball player recently stepped out in a dapper Thom Brown shorts suit.
The cr√®me de la cr√®me of wedding attire, fall weddings offer no shortage of style options. Of course, we’ll never stop crushing over a wine-colored tux. Burgundy is better in the fall, right? This is also a great chance to pair suit separates together, like a tweed jacket in fall hues with sleek black pants or a soft cream jacket with earth-toned separates. Don’t be afraid of herringbone plaid in the fall, either! Cognac, cranberry, and navy are three classic complimentary colors we can’t stop fawning over.
When it comes to a winter wedding, this is when you can let your style shine. Break out the wool, the velvet, the flannel – with the holidays approaching this time of year, winter weddings allow you to dress to the nines. We love an all-black look – keep things fresh with a black shirt, tie, and suit with a pop of gold and white in your boutonniere. Or, for the particularly jazzy groom, show off your style with a velvet tuxedo jacket – here, you can opt for a range of colors from the traditional black velvet to rich jewel tones in blues, reds, and even a striking emerald green.
