Fall Weddings Are Coming and We. Can’t. Wait.September 17, 2017
The first official day of fall is this month, which means the first official fall wedding is also this month and we are so excited! Rosy cheeked, cozy fabric, finally get to use the fire-pit kind of excited!
Fall is a special time of year in Destin. The summer crowds have gone home. The triple-digit temperatures have relaxed into a beautiful, brisk rotation in the 60s and 70s. All of our seasonally sourced restaurants start serving fall produce. (Oh, and did we mention we’re in the SEC? There’s a whole lot of football watching here on the Emerald Coast. Find watch parties for all your favorite teams here.)
Of course, we wanted to share some of our favorite fall wedding tips and trends. These unique touches personalize your Destin Bay House event, from the wedding party to the reception.
- Go a shade darker.
We know it’s fall when the bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s suits get a little darker. And we love the deep romantic shades of marsala, plum, and cranberry. This year, we’re also seeing plenty of jade, emerald, and forest too (and being on the Emerald Coast, we have to say, we’re loving this foray into green!).
- Leave it to us.
Speaking of green, rather than having your flower girl decorate the aisle with rose petals, use leaves. We love the rich, waxy hue of magnolia leaves in contrast with the slender sweetgum leaves (but hey, we’re a little partial to these Southern beauties). Of course, you can always mix in maple leaves for a distinctly fall feel.
- Go Naked (on your cake)
Not only are naked wedding cakes one of the most beautiful trends of 2017, it’s one of the best ideas for a fall wedding. The natural colors of the cake (rich browns, golds, oranges, and yellows) complement any autumnal color scheme, and lend a natural element to the reception. Not to mention, it’s a great way to save on cake costs by eliminating intricate and time consuming frosting efforts.
We can’t wait to make all the dreams of our fall brides come true. For even more ideas, schedule a meeting with our wedding planner today!
