Three Places for Engagement Photos in Destin

Engagement photos in Destin

Equally as important as your upcoming wedding is your announcement to the world that you’re getting married. Of course, this means engagement photos. Those photos will likely be shared in save the dates and on social media, and cherished as keepsakes for years to come.

More importantly, you want them to capture the essence of the two of you to tell the story behind your beautiful Destin Bay House wedding.

While you may already have the perfect photographer in mind (if not, click here), finding the ideal setting can be more of a challenge. So here are some of the most gorgeous places to take engagement photos in Destin.

>The Destin Jetties

Locals already know about the beauty of the jetties at Destin’s East Pass. In fact, Travel Channel featured the jetties as the top attraction on Destin: Top 10 Locals List.   The jetties were constructed in the late 1960s as a preservation effort against storms and high tides, and now serve as an artificial reef.

For photos, the jagged, onyx stones contrast beautifully against the clear emerald water and white sand. (Pro Tip: This is a perfect place to wear a long, flowing dress that will drape across the stones). The terrain itself echoes the beautiful, albeit rocky, journey of relationships that stand the test of time. Access the jetties from either O’Steen Beach Access on Holiday Isle at the end of Gulf Shore Drive, or at the parking area on the West side of the Destin Bridge under “Welcome to Destin” billboard.

>Henderson Beach State Park

The long boardwalk quietly runs along Florida’s protected greenery and white sand at Henderson Beach State Park. Photos of the pair of you walking down the boardwalk or as illuminated silhouettes against the sunset are sure to dazzle. To add a dose of child-like whimsy to your photos, bring along a bicycle and get shots of one of you pedaling as the other rides the handlebars.

>The Village of Baytowne Wharf

Technically Sandestin, the Village of Baytowne Wharf is only a few minutes’ drive from the heart of Destin. But for photos full of contrast, it’s totally worth it. Baytowne is a self-contained resort town with boutiques and Bayfront views. Here, your photos could range from images on the dock to images on the carousel, or even in a secluded tree house. This venue is sure to bring out the kid in each of you.

And there you have it: three places in Destin to host your engagement photo session. Be sure to tag The Destin Bay House on Facebook  and let us see how your photos turned out!
